Miracles

Today, I watched the episode “Season of Miracles” of the Dr Quinn series. In the episode, the reverend turns blind and the prayers of the town folk do not help. I can’t help but think that if only the makers of the show would have believed God really can do miracles, the reverend would have gained his eyesight back in the episode. It is the lack of faith of the show makers that cost the reverend his eyesight. It is like that in real life too: it is the lack of faith people have that prevents miracles from happening. We need to believe that God’s power is real. It is not realistic to believe that God will not do miracles in our lives; that that is only something for beautiful stories. That is the realism of the non-believer. The realism of the true Christian has to be that God can and will do miracles in our own lives.

It's the Heart that Counts

I discovered something about myself. If people doubt my mental abilities, my talents, my logic, my dexterity or my social skills, I can get upset, but it does not bother me for long. It is when people doubt my heart that I am truly hurt and carry it with me until I get a chance to prove them otherwise. That is because my mental, physical and social abilities do not define who I am. My heart does.

God's Love and Our Attitude

Exodus 20:5-6 teaches us that God's love for those who follow Him is far greater than His wrath against those who do not. This also means that our grudge against those who wrong us must be non-existent, since our love is also incomplete.
