Miracles

Today, I watched the episode “Season of Miracles” of the Dr Quinn series. In the episode, the reverend turns blind and the prayers of the town folk do not help. I can’t help but think that if only the makers of the show would have believed God really can do miracles, the reverend would have gained his eyesight back in the episode. It is the lack of faith of the show makers that cost the reverend his eyesight. It is like that in real life too: it is the lack of faith people have that prevents miracles from happening. We need to believe that God’s power is real. It is not realistic to believe that God will not do miracles in our lives; that that is only something for beautiful stories. That is the realism of the non-believer. The realism of the true Christian has to be that God can and will do miracles in our own lives.
